This section of our website is for children and young people with the issues involved in going into hospital and looking after your health.
Action for Sick Children is a very important organisation for Children. We need more Children and parents to support our work and tell others how we are a voice for children everywhere.
The improvements that you see in today's hospitals, the bright wards, the pictures, the toys, and other things you see, are because of the work we have carried out on your behalf over the past 40 years.
At Action for Sick Children we believe that children and their parents are much less anxious about visits to the hospital, doctor or dentist if they are fully informed in advance of any treatments they may be involved in.
Dental healthcare is just as important as any other healthcare and in fact, good dental care helps to maintain healthy lives. The latest project to be initiated by Action for Sick Children is the use of "Dental play boxes".
These boxes help children to learn through play how to understand dental treatments and encourage them to cooperate with the dentist, which in turn makes a visit to the dentist a much less scary experience. This scheme is already very successful in Scotland and will be shortly launched throughout England.
